Yearbook

Senior pictures are due by November 8th. Please send pictures to yearbook1@rsu57.org.

Yearbook order forms, senior Baby Ads, and other yearbook information can also be found on our website: https://sites.google.com/a/rsu57.org/massabesic-yearbook/.

Breakfast machine at the East - Cannot keep students from being at class on time. We are thrilled that students are accessing it, but we need to make sure Block 1 classes are not interfered with.  There is plenty of time between the last bus drop off and the beginning of Block 1 for a student to get breakfast from the machine.

Fall classes are currently still available at the Massabesic Adult Education Center!  Click HERE to see what they have to offer!

A few weeks ago - I met with each class on school expectations at lunch along with our concern on an uptake in wandering during classes, as some students pretend to need the bathroom each block, etc...Thanks go to all students for the improved following of expectations we have seen the last few weeks!

Community Service Hours documentation?  It is each student’s responsibility to be turning in their hours! Students are not to assume that the MHS Staff, mentor or community member that the service is being done for is turning them in.  Hours are to be submitted within 4 months of when the service was completed. Hours are to be turned into Ms.Roy, who is across the hall from Mr. Elkington’s office at the West.

Picture Re-Takes for Students will be next Friday morning, November 13th in MHS Library.

Project Graduation is still looking for volunteers, to give a few hours and /or to make small food donations to support the Annual Scrapbooking Fundraising Event.  We are looking for a few adults and students to help the day of the event, Saturday, Nov. 14th.  Students can earn community service volunteer hours.  Food donations will need to be delivered on Friday, Nov. 13th.  Please contact Cindy Paradis via email at cindyparadis65@gmail.com, cell phone 423-2452 or signup via http://vols/pt/uNiYwU.   Scrapbooking spots are still open for the day, cost is $50 and includes food.  This event runs from 8am-8pm.

Class of 2016

Senior class dues need to be paid as soon as possible. Dues are $75. Checks can be made out to MHS Class of 2016 and turned into Mrs. Blair or Mrs. Stephenson.  If you want to start a payment plan, say $10.00/month, we can do that also!

Guidance Info

Guidance is still looking for your input!  Please email stevenurbach@rsu57.org with suggestions for any topics you would like to have for upcoming Parent Evenings. Examples include "Strategies for interacting with our Teens About Social Media, PSAT, SAT Score Report Interpretation, "Helping our Teens Deal with Peer Influence."  Dates will be out soon!

Is your son or daughter applying to UNE?  If so, have they signed up for the On-the-Spot Interviews UNE is conducting here at MHS on Tuesday, November 24th from 8:45-2:00 p.m?  If not, there is still time to do so by signing up in Guidance.  Students must have their applications and letters of recommendations completed in advance of their interviews.

Last month a group of MHS Students did a fantastic job representing Massabesic High School as the ‘Hot High School of the Week’ on The Hot 104.7.   They co-hosted with Miguel “Mijo’ Irizarry between 8-9pm.  Freshman, Hunter Cook organized the event and shared the co-hosting duties with Justin Vigue, Emma Rutledge, Madi Drain, Zander Newton, and Adam DeAngelis.  Super job!!

Congratulations go to Justin Leach (trombone) for his acceptance into the Maine All-State Jazz Honor Band!

MHS Department Highlights

Spanish

Spanish Level One students dressed a skeleton following the Mexican tradition and created fictional characters describing them in Spanish. The objective of this project was to get a deeper understanding of two Measurement Topics within Culture. Practices and perspectives and Presentational Writing.  The project was followed by a power point presentation, the reading of a children's book  and a group discussion about this celebration.

Art

Students in 3D Design class have recently finished cardboard letter sculptures.  After sketching a unique design for a letter on graph paper, students scaled up their drawings onto cardboard.  The fronts, sides and backs of the letters were assembled using paper packing tape.  Students then added a diverse array

of colors and patterns to their letters using paint, tissue paper, ink and other materials. Here are some wonderful examples to share with you:
