NJROTC had their annual inspection last week.  This year's inspecting officer was CDR Jimmy

Miller who recently took over as the Area Manager.  Our students and staff were well-prepared

snd showed CDR Miller how AWESOME “MUSTANG NATION” is!  CDR Miller could not stop d

iscussing how impressed he was with our cadets along with Commander Donlon and Sr. Chief

Jordan’s efforts.  Three cheers for a job well done to all involved!!

It is most important that our school be involved in a Re-entry Process when students return

from outside behavioral (social/emotional) evaluations; including, but not limited to an outside

placement so that we can support your son/daughter's transition return to MHS.  When we are

informed of a concern the student's’ counselor will explain to the parent/guardian that the

son/daughter is not to return to school until after a re-entry meeting takes place at MHS, so that

we, student, staff, parent/guardian are in the best position possible to put a plan in place.

The Re-entry meeting must occur at least one day prior to the student returning to school as

staff need’s time to prepare for possible student needs and or triggers which could cause

Unified Basketball: Did you know that MHS has started a unified basketball team? We are now one of 32 schools statewide sponsoring a team that combines students with disabilities along with supporting students from our school.  Our team will compete against other area schools during a 7-game regular season, followed by playoffs and then culminating in a state championship. If you wish to attend a game and support our student-athletes, our team’s schedule is available on our website. The following site shares a Bangor Daily News article which describes this program in more detail. http://bangordailynews.com/2016/01/06/sports/more-maine-schools-added-as-unified-basketball-returns/

MHS Department Highlights

Wellness A classes have been playing Volleyball, which many of our students enjoy, as it gets all students in class working together. Students also learned how agility, balance, and coordination work together and are used in many daily activities. Lastly, students focused on the decision-making process learning how certain skills help them make good choices in their lives.

Wellness C classes completed logging their workouts along with Fitness testing to determine their fitness levels. Fitness testing is completed 3 times throughout the semester to help determine each student’s progress and improvement. Students were able to take this data and reflect on their individual workout plans to determine their overall progress throughout the semester.  Our students also completed projects on the causes and prevention of both communicable and noncommunicable diseases and the important roll of nutrition and exercise in creating a healthy lifestyle.
