“Hi All! Hope you are well! I have one reminder and two
other items in this email:
Our "Meet & Greet" - This Thursday night offers the opportunity for students and their families to personally meet each of their son/daughter’s teachers. When you arrive we ask that you come to the Cafeteria in the West Building to obtain your son/daughter's schedule. Parents & Guardians are then free to travel to each of your son/daughter's classrooms to say hi, get some face to face contact with teachers and also receive some information about projects, assessments, and/or activities your son/daughter will be completing with the teacher over the trimester along with some important course and contact information.
Before leaving each room please have the teacher sign/initial your son/daughter's schedule in the appropriate block. This schedule is to be turned in to the main office at the East or West before leaving for the night. On Friday, there will be a drawing, where each student will receive one chance for each signature they receive on the schedule. These chances will give your son/daughter an opportunity to earn a variety of "Mustang Nation" prizes.
Following the meet and greet there will be four important informational sessions, one for each grade level, geared toward your son/daughter's upcoming year. Participating in these sessions will also give your son or daughter additional chances at our prizes.
What are the new iPad expectations - For 2014-2015? You should have received the new expectations/ contract from your son or daughter last week. Last year we encountered much more damage then we thought we would see, which cost the district and families more than expected. This summer we looked for better ways to improve the safety of our iPads so that these costs would be reduced for all. After a lot of research we came up with a new protective case that we think will do the trick and comes with a good safety net for students and families!
Attached to this email is a document that I am calling the "Readers Digest" version of iPad expectations. It gives you a quick review of the important points from the contract. The bottom line is that this new protective case will save most unnecessary repair costs if when using the case damage occurs. I urge you to agree to this protection plan as I think it will be the best way to guarantee limited damage. We do understand that some of our families are on very tight budgets. Families on free or reduced lunch will have the protection plan costs waived by contacting Tech Director Mr. Kevin Perkins.
Lastly, our district is asking parents/guardians - To complete a district-wide survey about your thoughts of our district's vision and mission. Attached to this email is a flyer with directions on taking the survey electronically. Every parent/guardian who completes the survey gives their son/daughter the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a new iPad Mini! Thanks!
Thanks very much for taking the time to read the above!
Very truly yours,
Christian M. Elkington
