Dear Parents and Guardians,


It is my pleasure to share the following “Mustang Nation” information with you:




3-13-14 Early Release Day

3-13-14 Winter Trimester Final Exams begin

3-14-14 Staff Workshop Day NO SCHOOL

3-17-14 Day 2 of Final Exams

3-18-14 Day 3 of Final Exams

3-19-14 Spring Trimester begins


Winter Trimester Final Exams – Start this Thursday, March 13th with two exams. Schedules and information have been shared with all students this past week. Starting tomorrow you will be able to review the schedule online by going to our school’s main page and clicking on the MHS Special Announcements section in the upper left hand corner.


Sophomores & Juniors Sanford Regional Technical Center applications – Are due this Friday, March 14th. Applications for the 2014-2015 school year can be found on the SRTC website. Juniors can apply for the three, one-year programs SRTC offers only.  


Project Graduation event – Coming up on Saturday, March 29th! The Massabesic Project Grad Team will be hosting a Spaghetti Supper at the Massabesic Medical Center in Waterboro from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm. The cost is $7.00. All proceeds benefit Massabesic High School's Project Graduation program. Menu will include:  Spaghetti with sauce, meatballs, salad, bread, beverages and desert. Please come out and support the Project Grad Team as they work to provide a safe, fun, chemical free celebration for all graduating Seniors! Thank YOU!


The Annual Senior Scholarship Meeting – Will be held during Activity block tomorrow, Monday, March 10th. All seniors will be receiving the 2014 scholarship packet at this time and should attend.




Lauren Stetson, winner of the first annual MHS Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest and Jacob Hammond, runner-up! Great job Lauren & Jacob!


Remi Gaetjens and Alyssa Wardwell competed for Massabesic HS Saturday, on the game show MEST Up (http://www.mestup.tv/).  They won their competition versus Edward Little HS and are waiting to see if they go on to the next round. http://www.mestup.tv MEST UP is a Game show on WPXT, the CW channel, which airs Thursdays through Mondays for high school students. MEST Up is an "messed up" acronym for STEM and the show focuses on science, engineering, mathematics and technology.  Well done!


Janelle Boisvert who was recognized for her efforts at helping others as a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Finalist. Super Job Janelle!


Emily Wasina was recognized by DAR for her award-winning essay on the importance of Christopher Columbus and George Washington! Great job Emily!"


JANUARY’s HONORED STUDENT ATHLETE is JOLENA LAMPRON. Jolena is being recognized for her multiple efforts including Vice President of the National Honor Society, SMAA All Academic Team, 140 hours of community service with a GPA of 101! Way to go Jolena!


Three cheers go to – Cody Leach who was nominated by MHS for the Maine 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Award. Cody's volunteer efforts earned him this honor! Super job Cody!




The Portland Sea Dogs are hosting their 7th Annual College Fair on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hadlock Field.  After the fair, students and one guest are invited to watch the game against the Reading Phillies, which starts at 6:00 PM.  Students must have a Sea Dogs game ticket to attend the College Fair.  Every student may receive two (2) free tickets for the game by contacting the Sea Dogs' ticket office.  Additional tickets may be purchased for $5 each.  Call 207-879-9500 for more information.
