As you may be aware, online learning in the US is growing. In Maine, a small group of educators, which Massabesic High School is a part of, got together to start creating Maine's first online high school during the 2011-2012 school year. The 2012-2013 School Year is the Maine Virtual Learning Consortium's (MEVLC), first year. MEVLC is working to provide online learning opportunities for Maine students.

• Is a non-profit “governed” by its member public high schools.
• Courses developed and taught by Maine teachers.
• Has created (and is refining) its own Learning Management System (LMS) based on “free” Google tools.

• Course curricula are free for any other school or teacher to use or adapt (Creative Commons licensing).
• Provides a structure that hopes to help public high schools maintain student enrollment in the more competitive landscape to come.
• Is committed to the highest quality online learning interactions between and among teachers and students."

Massabesic High School is committed to the growth and improvement of the opportunities that online learning provides
