Hi All! It is clear from recent comments, questions and concerns that there is some
confusion on the implementation process for RSU 57's and Massabesic High School’s,
Standards-Based Diploma.

Please know:

- The Class of 2016, 2017 and 2018 will NOT be asked to change to a new
Standards-Based Diploma in their remaining years at MHS

- The Class of 2016, 2017 and 2018 will continue to use the transcript being used
by the Class of 2014

- The Class of 2016 will not have adjustments made to the following:
  • A GPA based on a Zero to 100 Scale
  • The Top Ten Percent
  • A Valedictorian, Salutatorian and an Honor Essayist
  • Class Rank
  • Grades reported on their transcript using a Zero – 100 scale
  • Weighted grades for Accelerated (2015-2016), AP and College classes.
During the 2015 – 2016 school year each class will see one change with how student
progress is reported on progress reports and report cards. These will look different, as
they will be coming from the Empower/Educate Program used in grades K-8. Each report
will explain progress based on the Learning Targets within each of course in 2015-2016.
These reports will share student progress following a 1-4 rubric scale we have been using
for several years at MHS. For students in grades 10 – 12 course rubric scores will be
converted to a Zero to 100 scale on their transcript.
Information about the new progress and report card will be available online and shared
with all sometime this June.
Informational Meetings will be held in the Massabesic High School Auditorium at 6:00
PM on:
  • Monday, June 15th
  • Tuesday, June 23rd
  • Early fall, follow-up dates will be shared shortly
