The RSU 57 Curriculum Committee warmly invites all students, staff, and community members to attend an upcoming Community Forum on Tuesday, May 13 at 6:00 PM in the Massabesic High School East Training Center. This forum will provide an opportunity to share updates on the RSU 57 Strategic Plan since its implementation last year and to strengthen connections between our schools and the broader community. As part of our ongoing commitment to building meaningful partnerships, we value your insights and ideas as we explore new ways to collaborate in support of our students and the greater RSU 57 community. The evening will begin with a brief presentation, followed by a discussion focused on the four key areas of the Strategic Plan: students, staff, community, and facilities. We hope to see you there and look forward to your participation in this important conversation!

Massabesic Adult and Community Education (MACE) is proud to celebrate the 19 graduates who have earned their high school equivalency (HiSET) since July 1, 2024—with 8 more students on track to graduate before the end of this school year. Earning a high school credential opens the door to a wide range of opportunities. Our recent MACE graduates are considering career paths in fields like education, construction, electrical work, CNC machining, and military service. A high school diploma or equivalency is more than just a piece of paper—it’s a critical stepping stone toward a stable, meaningful career. In fact, 63% of jobs in the U.S. require at least a high school diploma, and individuals who earn theirs see, on average, a 53% increase in income over ten years. Whether you're looking for a better job, a more consistent schedule, or a fresh start, completing your high school credential is a powerful first step. We invite the entire community to join us in celebrating the accomplishments of these hardworking individuals at our upcoming graduation ceremony on June 18. All are welcome to attend. Contact Massabesic Adult and Community Education at 207-247-2022 to begin your journey today!

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of February! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! This month's raffle winner is Sophie Manning, Science Teacher at Massabesic Middle School! "Sophie is a positive, dedicated, and reliable team member. She is always thinking of ways to improve our school and team culture. She has incredible relationships with her students and holds them to a high standard. She is involved both in school and out of school with coaching and is on various boards and committees - all for the better of our students. Last week, RSU 57's K-1 students had an unforgettable shared experience with Sparks' Ark! David Sparks, a dedicated wildlife rehabilitator, founded Sparks' Ark with the mission of rescuing and caring for local animals. Through this incredible program, David is able to bring these animals into the community in an engaging and educational way. Our young learners were captivated by the incredible animals and the stories behind their rescue!

Today, AES had a special visitor—Boomer, the Sanford Mainers' mascot! 🦡🎉 Boomer stopped by to kick off Boomer’s Bookworms, a fantastic reading program that rewards students with free tickets to a Mainers game this summer! 🌟📖 By completing their reading logs, students can turn pages into prizes and score a fun night at the ballpark. Let’s get reading AES! 📚💚 #BoomersBookworms #ReadToEarn #SanfordMainers #AlfredElementary

Fourth and Fifth graders in Ms. McCarthy's class at Alfred Elementary School have been participating in Junior Achievement of Maine. The JA program introduces students to financial literacy and entrepreneurship. With lessons connected to our social studies and literacy standards, students learn about money-management, goods and services, starting a business, and banking by participating in games, readings, and vocabulary work.

At AES, to celebrate friendship and kindness today, Ms. McCarthy's fourth and fifth graders worked with their book buddies from Mrs. Normand's and Mrs. Chretien's first grade class to build Valentine's Transporters!! All students listened to the book, I'll Love You Till the Cows Come Home by Kathryn Cristaldi. In this silly book, animals travel to the ones they love by using different modes of transportation. After listening to the book, students worked with their buddies to build a creative and original mode of transportation! We all had a lot of fun.
