Due to severe weather conditions, power outages at three RSU 57 schools and in anticipation of additional weather-related challenges, all elementary schools (Alfred, Line, Lyman, Shapleigh and Waterboro) will be dismissed at 11:30am today. Lunch will be provided prior to dismissal. As there are many road closures, please be patient with your child’s drop-off time. We appreciate your support and understanding during this challenging time.

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of December! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! Click the link to view December's Model Mustang Award recipients. RSU 57 proudly welcomed the arrival of its first of two electric buses on December 12. The District recently applied for a federal grant program which would provide eligible school districts with electric buses entirely free-of-charge. After a rigorous selection process, RSU 57 was chosen to receive two electric buses. The new electric buses will run on a trial basis to evaluate how they provide value to the RSU 57 Transportation Department. An orientation and safety training was held following the unveiling and was attended by Central Office Administration, Transportation staff, and local EMS/fire departments.

On Saturday, November 18, Massabesic High School’s NJROTC cadets competed in the All New England Drill League of Navy JROTC against schools from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Saturday’s meeting was one of four annual competitions taking place this fall. The event was an opportunity for students to compete in challenges including physical fitness and to practice leadership, discipline, and good sportsmanship. In the Individual Drill Knockout - an event akin to “Simon Says” for drill knowledge - over 100 students competed to be in the last ten cadets standing. Eligible participants include first, second, and third year cadets only, and once students have earned a “top ten” spot, they can no longer compete in the event. We are proud to share that of the top ten students who finished the Knockout, FIVE of them were from our MHS NJROTC! Congratulations to first year cadets Terver Kinney, Grace Shipman, Alley Heath, Guardian Boedecker (Bonny Eagle), and Aiden Parsons (Bonny Eagle) for their win!
